Six figures in particular are singled out: Aziza Amir, Assia Dagher, Bahiga Hafez, Fatma Roushdi, Mary Queenie and Amina Mohamed. Chronicling their lives from childhood to stardom, the writer tells tale after tale of ambition, success, loss, happiness, love, hardship, selfishness, endurance, intelligence, adventure, and madness. The second part of the book contains an account of the women’s filmography. Each entry marks the name of the film, time and place of production, name of director, the role played by this actress, and other roles in the film.
