يدور كتاب ”أنظمة الأحوال الشخصية: الأصالة والتحديث” حول الأسرة المسيحية ومقوماتها في الشرق الأوسط بهدف توضيح الإطار العام للأحوال الشخصية المسيحية. يشتمل الكتاب على مجموعة من الدراسات والأبحاث قدمها الآباء ورجال الدين والباحثون والمتخصصون والقضاة والمحامون، كلها تقارب الموضوع من النظرة اللاهوتية والنظرة الرعائية والنظرة القانونية. وبذلك تتنوع القضايا التي يتضمنها الكتاب من الزواج ومقوماته وأسسه وما يجب أن يسوده من قيم ومبادئ، إلى مفهوم الكنيسة الراعية ولزوم التوعية والحياة المشتركة ودور المرأة ومكانة الطفل، بالإضافة إلى موانع الزواج القانونية واختلاف الدين وما يسمى بالزواج الجديد والحضانة والتبني والإرث. تعالج المقالات القضايا في الشرق الأوسط عامة وإن اهتمت بعض المقالات بالحالات الخاصة في بعض البلدان مثل لبنان ومصر.Personal Status Law Systems: Tradition and Modernity defines, explains and frames the legal regulations and status of Christian families in the Middle East, focusing on the personal status laws available at the present. The book includes various studies and articles presented by men, priests, researchers, specialists, judges, and lawyers; all these studies approach the topic from three main angles: biblically, pastorically and legally. As such the issues discussed vary, from marriage conditions, principles and values to the concept of a patron church, and the importance of awareness and co-habitation; from the role of women and the status of children to the legal prohibitions of marriage, difference of religion, the ‘new’ marriage, custody, adoption, and inheritance. While the articles discuss personal status laws in the Middle East in general, some articles focus on case specific countries like Egypt and Lebanon
