The webinar is<br \/>\norganized within the framework of the WMF project Feminist Readings in Arab Cultural<br \/>\nHistory.<br \/>\n<strong>The seminar is divided into two sessions:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. \u201cReading the Provisions for Women\u2019s Issues in Islamic History\u201d delivered by Dr. Omaima Abu-<br \/>\nBakr and Dr. Hoda al-Saadi.<\/h5>\n<h5>2. \u201cImaginations and Emotions in the Archive: Rereading Canonical History from a Feminist<br \/>\nPerspective\u201d delivered by Dr. Hoda Elsadda.<\/h5>\n<h5><strong>The event targets participants:<\/strong><br \/>\n\uf0b7 from the Arab region<br \/>\n\uf0b7 of all genders<br \/>\n\uf0b7 with priority given to applicants with experience in research work.<br \/>\nTo maintain space for active discussion and interaction, please apply via:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/KpX1RL47QUnLNiWx8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/forms.gle\/KpX1RL47QUnLNiWx8<\/a><\/span> before 16 September 2024.<\/h5>\n<h5><strong>Meet the Presenters<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211;<strong>Omaima Abu-Bakr<\/strong> is a Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Cairo University, and a<br \/>\nfounding member of the Women and Memory Forum. She currently serves as the Chairwoman of<br \/>\nthe WMF\u2019s Board of Trustees. She specializes in Medieval Sufi poetry and comparative English and<br \/>\nArabic studies. Her research interests include spiritual literature, women sufism in Islam and<br \/>\nChristianity, religious knowledge from a feminist perspective, women in the history of Islam,<br \/>\nwomen and gender issues in Islamic heritage and contemporary Islamic discourses, and the Qur\u2019anic<br \/>\ninterpretations. She has academic publications in English and Arabic Medieval poetry and literature,<br \/>\nthe development of religious discourses on\/about women, and Islamic feminism.<\/h5>\n<h5>&#8211;<strong>Hoda al-Saadi<\/strong> holds a PhD in Islamic History and lectures at the American University in Cairo. She<br \/>\nis a founding member of the Women and Memory Forum.<\/h5>\n<h5>&#8211;<strong>Hoda Elsadda<\/strong> is a feminist activist, a Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Cairo<br \/>\nUniversity, and a founding member of the Women and Memory Forum. She previously worked as a<br \/>\nProfessor of Contemporary Arabic Studies at Manchester University (2005-2011), an Associate<br \/>\nDirector of the Centre for the Advanced Study of the Arab World in the United Kingdom, and a<br \/>\nvisiting researcher at George Town University (2014-2015). Her research interests include gender<br \/>\nstudies, comparative studies, and oral history. Her publications include Gender, Nation, and the Arabic Novel: Egypt (1982-2008), translated into Arabic by Hala Kamal, and published in 2020 by<br \/>\nEgypt\u2019s National Council for Translation.
