The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) published a guidebook entitled Documenting Women\u2019s Life Stories and Experiences from a Gendered Perspective1 to document its experience in establishing the Women\u2019s Oral History Archive2 in Egypt and the Arab region.
\nThrough the Women\u2019s Oral History Archive,3 the WMF establishes an archive of women\u2019s history from a gender-sensitive perspective, with the aim of producing alternative knowledge on women, history, and society. Such knowledge is the foundation for a more equitable life for women and men.
\nThe published guidebook is divided into two sections. The first section presents the theoretical background of the project, covers the preparation and execution stages of the project, and highlights the challenges to archiving oral history. It also includes a quick glance into the WMF training workshops on oral history research methodologies from a gendered perspective, with references to some of the personal interviews conducted during the project.
\nThe second section of the guidebook encompasses selected readings on oral history from a gender-sensitive perspective.
\nDocumenting Women\u2019s Life Stories and Experiences from a Gendered Perspective4 is produced under the supervision of Prof. Hoda Elsadda.<\/p>\n
