The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a screening of the Egyptian narrative feature film Snow White on Wednesday 3 December 2025, at the WMF headquarters in Cairo. The film screening was followed by an open discussion with the film’s director, Taghrid Abd al-Maqsoud Abu al-Hassan, moderated by Dr. Sahar al-Mougi, marking the latest episode of the WMF Film Club “Women’s Tales.”
“Women’ Tales” engages with women’s issues in Arab cinema by hosting monthly screenings of selected films. The screenings are free and open to the public and feature the women filmmakers for an open discussion with them.
Snow White is a light comedy that follows the life of Iman, a young Egyptian woman of short stature, as she struggles against traditional beauty standards to fulfill her dreams: to fall in love and to get married. Snow White won the Grand Prize at Tangier International Film Festival (TIFF), in addition to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Award and the International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) Award at the Cairo International Film Festival. The lead actress, Mariam Sherif, won the award for Best Actress at the Red Sea International Film Festival in 2024.
