جمع كتاب ”نساء العالم” العديد من الطرائف عن المرأة من مختلف بلاد العالم. ويتناول الكاتب ما يراه خصائص وصفات أنثوية بحتة من خلال حكيه للعادات التي عرفت عن النساء في شتى البلاد أو عرّفت بهن . فعلى سبيل المثال ، يتناول الكاتب سمة الاهتمام بالجمال الشخصي والمعاملة التي تتحلى بها المرأة سواء كانت تنتمي إلي قبائل مورو في أعالي السودان أو إلى مدارس الموضة والإتيكيت في باريس ، بالإضافة إلى تقاليد الزواج وأعرافه في اليابان وأفريقيا وأسبانيا وإيطاليا، وينتقد الكاتب المكانة المتدنية التى قد توضع فيها المرأة في الشعوب البدائية مثل القبائل المتوحشة في أستراليا وأمريكا اللاتينية. كما يناقش الكاتب أيضاً بعض الموضوعات الأخرى المتعلقة بالمرأة عامة مثل العزلة والتمييز والرؤى القاصرة عن المرأة إما بوصفها شيطاناً أو ملاكاً. هذا ويقوم الكاتب بتقسيم النساء وفق جنسياتهن، فيناقش الفرق بين المرأة الفرنسية والمجرية والأسبانية والإنجليزية والألمانية والهولندية والأمريكية والهندية واليابانية والصينية والزنجية وأخيراً المصرية، مع التركيز على الأخيرة بالتفصيل في نواح معينة مثل المشاعر والغيرة والأمومة والطفولة ومسيرة الحركة النسائية.Women of the World is a collection of anecdotes about women from all over the world. The writer discusses what he sees as unique feminine traits through the various practices of peoples from different contexts. As such, he speaks of women’s concern with their beatification, appearance and behaviour- whether they belong to the tribes of upper Sudan or to the etiquette schools in Paris. He also tackles the conventions and rituals surrounding marriage in various regions such as sub-Saharan Africa, Spain, Italy and Japan. He criticizes the inferior status accorded to women in some primitive societies in South America and Australia, moving on to other issues related to women in general such as isolation, segregation and misogynist polarized views of women, either as angels or devils. Other anecdotal musings categorise women according to nationality, where the writer gives his opinion on the differences between French, Hungarian, Spanish, English, German, Dutch, American, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, African and Egyptian women. Focusing on Egyptian women in particular, he tackles several angles such as their emotional nature and jealousy, and phases of motherhood and childhood; he also presents a short history of Egyptian feminism.
