All in black and white, the pictures also depict participants in community development conferences and members of the national guard, as well as women participating in public acts like voting in elections, taking part in demonstrations and strikes, and training with weaponry. An introduction in Arabic, English, French and Italian precedes the illustrations and describes the many ways by which women make their presence felt in the diverse fields of life, from politics, education and culture to industry, agriculture and public service.
