The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) held a panel discussion on “Approaches to the Study of Women’s History” during the 2003 conference of the Center for Economic, Legal, and Social Studies and Documentation (CEDEJ) organized in Cairo. The panel was moderated by Dr. Sahar Sobhi Abdel-Hakim, and discussed three paper presentations: “Women and Discourses of Madness in Arab Culture” by Dr. Hoda al Saadi; “The Oral History of Egyptian Women Between Past and Future Questions” by Dr. Hoda Elsadda; and “Reading the History of Quranic Interpretations of the Verses on Men and Women” by Dr. Omaima Abou-Bakr.
