WMF Organizes a Gender Studies Course in Collaboration with the Center for Social Studies and Research at Cairo University

The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized its first Gender Studies Course in collaboration with the Center for Social Studies and Research at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University. The course was held in the period from 17 to 30 October 2009 in Cairo, and was attended by 19 graduate students at the departments of sociology, psychology, and history.

During the WMF Course, specialized academics introduced the participants to the field of gender studies through academic lectures and practical applications on the foundational concepts on gender and the critical gender theories across the different academic disciplines. The course also discussed the history of the women’s movements and the relationship between gender and the theories of history, social sciences, and literature.
