The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a public lecture entitled “Women and Sexual Ethics in the American Popular Culture” delivered by Martha Bayles in Cairo on 11 March 2007.

Born in Boston, Martha Bayles is an American author and lecturer. She graduated from Harvard University before teaching in the public schools of Philadelphia, Boston, and Cambridge for several years. Between 1997 and 2003, Bayles was a Lecturer of the Humanities at Claremont McKenna College in California. She has been a Lecturer in the Arts and Sciences Honors Program at Boston College since 2003. She has published extensively in American popular culture, with a focus on popular music.
