Share

The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a public seminar to discuss the concept of sex between consent and harassment. The event was held on 20 December 2006 and was attended by women’s rights activists.

The WMF seminar included presentations by Dr. Fatma Khafagi, a specialist in women’s issues, and Dr. Malak Rushdie, a professor of sociology at the American University in Cairo. The discussion addressed the forms and manifestations of sexual harassment in Egypt, the availability of information about such practices, and the concepts related to violence and sexual harassment, in addition to the various economic, social, and cultural approaches to understanding these practices. The seminar concluded with a discussion of the legal aspects of sexual harassment, and society’s views on the victims.
