The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a book launch event in collaboration with the Union of Palestinian Women in Cairo to celebrate the release of The Political Role of Palestinian Women in the 1930s and The Political Role of Palestinian Women in the 1940s written by Dr. Faiha Abdulhadi. The two books are published by the Palestinian Women’s Research and Documentation Center (UNESCO).
WMF welcomed Dr. Faiha Abdulhadi in its headquarters in Cairo on 25 February 2007 for the book launch. The event included a discussion with the author, moderated by Dr. Amal Abu al-Fadl, member of the WMF’s board of trustees and a lecturer of English Literature at Cairo University. In the author’s presentation, Abdulhadi introduced her two books and discussed her research methodology to document the oral history of Palestinian women. Following the author’s presentation, Dr. Essam al-Desouki, a modern history professor at Helwan University, talked about the methodological challenges to recognizing oral history as a primary source of historiography and historical knowledge.
