WMF Launches its Online Database “Who Is She in Egypt?”

The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) celebrated the launch of its online database “Who Is She in Egypt?”[1] on 15 September 2010 in the Supreme Council of Culture, at the Cairo Opera House in Zamalek.
“Who Is She in Egypt?” is an online database that provides users with the biographical profiles of contemporary Egyptian women, with the aim of showcasing their professional achievements and specialized expertise in their particular fields. The online database is open for the public, in the Arabic and English languages, making it an accessible resource and a vital source of knowledge for organizations, research centers, scholars, activists, and media.
“Who Is She in Egypt?” is a WMF project established in 2010 and modelled on the Danish Database of Female Experts established in 1995 by the Danish Center for Knowledge on Gender, Equality, and Ethnicity (KVINFO). Similar databases were established in Jordan and Lebanon.
