The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a Gender Studies Course in collaboration with the Center for Social Studies and Research at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University. The course was held in Cairo in the period from 3 to 23 July 2011. The 3-week course was conducted in the Arabic language, and introduced the participants to key concepts and theories in gender studies across the various disciplines. The course targeted graduate students at the humanities and social sciences departments, and scholars who were recently awarded a master’s or a PhD degree in the humanities and social sciences. Participants were committed to full daily attendance, and received a certificate accredited by the Women and Memory Forum and the Center for Social Studies and Research, in addition to a selection of publications in gender and women’s studies as an incentive.

The Women and Memory Forum covered the participants’ travel and accommodation costs and their study expenses in Cairo for the duration of the course.
