The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a training course on oral history and feminist research methodologies as part of the WMF’s educational project Gender Education Programs.[1] The course was held in the period from 17 to 19 February 2022 at the headquarters of Elles Publishing House in Cairo (Bldg. 29, St. 106, Maadi), taking all precautionary measures. The course targeted young scholars interested in gender studies and feminist research methodologies, as well as civil society workers interested in feminist studies, social sciences, and the humanities.
The WMF’s Gender Education Programs introduce the participants to gender studies through lectures and practical applications on the key concepts, topics, theories, and methodologies in gender studies across diverse disciplines and academic fields. The programs provide participants with theoretical and applied readings, as well as bibliographies, key references, and primary sources on gender issues in the humanities and social sciences.
The Women and Memory Forum is a non-profit research institution that seeks to contribute effectively to the production and dissemination of alternative knowledge on women in the Arab region. The WMF rereads the cultural heritage and history to shape an awareness that supports women’s roles in society and culture, and confronts the prevailing misconceptions and negative stereotypes about women.
