The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a training workshop on oral history research methodologies from a gendered perspective. The workshop was held in the period from 5 to 7 June 2014 at the WMF headquarters in Dokki, Giza.
The workshop aimed to train scholars interested in women and gender on employing feminist research methodologies, qualitative field research methods, and the methods of oral historiography, in addition to approaches to quantitative data analysis and to visual documentation. The workshop also introduced the participants to good case practices in the field of oral documentation and historiography, and engaged them in lectures and discussion groups to share their different experiences.
The Women and Memory Forum is a non-profit organization, and a center for women’s studies that seeks to contribute effectively to the production of knowledge and the dissemination of an alternative culture about women in Egypt and the Arab region. The WMF also seeks to reread the cultural heritage and history for the purpose of reshaping the standing perceptions of women’s gender and cultural roles, and to confront the prevailing misconceptions and negative stereotypes of women.
The workshop organizing committee: Dr. Huda Elsadda, Missan Hassan, and Diana Magdi.
