WMF Celebrates Launching the Online Portal for Its Project “Archive of Women’s Voices”

Share

The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) held a ceremony to celebrate the launch of the online website of its project “Archive of Women’s Voices.” The celebration took place on 7 April 2015 at the headquarters of the Supreme Council of Culture, at the Cairo Opera House.

The Archive documents the life stories of Egyptian women with the aim of supporting their attempts to better their own lives, in addition to assisting Egyptian women in their struggle to attain their rights.

Oral history research has provided the necessary information as well as important reflections to women’s organizations in many Arab countries. Despite the recently revived interest in oral history in different parts of the world, there are only few projects on oral history in the Middle East and North Africa.
