WMF Film Club Screens Nawara in Episode Five of “Women’s Tales” Featuring Director Hala Khalil

The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a screening of the film Nawara on Wednesday 12 February 2025, at the WMF headquarters in Cairo. The screening was followed by an open discussion with the film’s writer and director, Hala Khalil, marking the fifth episode of the WMF Film Club “Women’s Tales.”
“Women’ Tales” engages with women’s issues in Arab cinema by hosting monthly screenings of selected films on the first Wednesday of each month. The screenings are free and open to the public, and feature the women filmmakers for an open discussion with them.
Nawara won multiple international awards from international film festivals, including Oran International Arabic Film Festival, Malmö Arab Film Festival, and the Dubai International Film Festival.
Hala Khalil is one of the participants interviewed for the WMF project “The Camera and Her,” launched in November 2024 to document the experiences of Egyptian women filmmakers in the WMF Women’s Oral History Archive.
