WMF Film Club Screens Souad in Episode Four of “Women’s Tales” Featuring Director Ayten Amin

The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a screening of the film Souad on Wednesday 15 January 2025, at the WMF headquarters in Cairo. The screening was followed by an open discussion with the film’s director, Ayten Amin, marking the fourth episode of the WMF Film Club “Women’s Tales.”
“Women’ Tales” engages with women’s issues in Arab cinema by hosting monthly screenings of selected films on the first Wednesday of each month. The screenings are free and open to the public, and feature the women filmmakers for an open discussion with them.
Souad is Ayten Amin’s second feature-length narrative film after Vila 69, and was presented at Cannes, Tribeca, and Berlin film festivals.
Ayten Amin is one of the participants interviewed for the WMF project “The Camera and Her,” launched in November 2024 to document the experiences of Egyptian women filmmakers in the WMF Women’s Oral History Archive.
