WMF Organizes a Gender Studies Course in Alexandria

The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) organized a Gender Studies Course in Alexandria. The participants were offered lectures by specialized academics on the key concepts and theories in gender studies across the humanities and social sciences. The course also provided the participants with theoretical and applied readings, as well as bibliographies, key references, and research sources in the field.
During the WMF Gender Studies Course in Alexandria, the participants were introduced to the history of the women’s movements in Egypt and the Arab world, and the relationship between gender and theories of history, social sciences, and literature.
About The Women and Memory Forum (WMF)
The Women and Memory Forum is a non-profit organization, and a center for women’s studies. It was established by a group of researchers interested in adopting a gender-sensitive perspective to change the prevailing stereotypical misconceptions of women in the mainstream culture.
Through an informed cultural mission and an epistemological message, the Women and Memory Forum seeks to contribute effectively to the production of knowledge and the dissemination of an
alternative culture about women in Egypt and the Arab region. The WMF also seeks to establish interdisciplinary feminist and gender studies curricula across the different academic disciplines.
The WMF is engaged in a diverse range of activities and programs, in addition to its work on multiple research projects and publications. The Women and Memory Forum also has its Library and Documentation Center,[1] through which the WMF offers a print and digital library specialized in women’s and gender studies.
