The Women and Memory Forum (WMF) held its exhibition Her Mark in History on Friday, 20 June 2025, in collaboration with the Jesuit’s Youth Educational Service Center (YES) in Minya.

Her Mark in History is a multimedia traveling exhibition that narrates women’s history in Egypt through audio clips and visual displays of their personal belongings and writings. The exhibition is the WMF’s latest project, aiming to revive the memory of Egypt’s pioneer women and introduce to the public the roles and contributions of women marginalized in official history narratives.

The exhibition features listening stations for visitors to hear the voices of pioneer women narrating their own life stories and the causes for which they advocated. The audio clips presented in the exhibition were recorded for the Women’s Oral History Archive  established by the WMF to document the roles and experiences of Egyptian women in the public sphere. The archive encompasses interviews with women from diverse backgrounds and age groups, conducted by the WMF research team over different stages and time periods. Her Mark in History features clips from selected interviews with 20th century women pioneers, and which were retrieved for the WMF Audio Podcast  shared in episodes via the WMF’s social media pages and YouTube channel.

The exhibition also features a visual display of the private collections and personal belongings of selected pioneer women, including their personal and family photographs, personal papers, and private writings, among other documents. The WMF collects, preserves, and presents the Private Collections of Egyptian women pioneers as part of its mission to document and narrate Egypt’s history and collective memory through sources that bring together the public and private, and unveil the women who left their mark in history.
